What this plan is for

This plan is designed for drivers operating commercial trucks and heavy commercial vehicles, including holders of DZ and AZ licenses.

It applies the eligible matter categories and included services from Basic and Extended in the context of trucking and adds listed truck-specific traffic services strictly under the Provincial Offences Act (Ontario). Plan limits and exclusions apply.

Plan Overview

1. Basic and Extended plans (Applied to Trucks)

Eligible offence categories under Basic and Extended are included when they arise from the operation of commercial trucks or heavy commercial vehicles, are classified under the Provincial Offences Act (Ontario), and are not otherwise excluded by the Member Service Agreement or Plan Schedule. The Commercial Light plan is not incorporated into this plan.

Paralegal Consultations

Up to 20 consultations per year.
Up to 4 general consultations per year are also included.
Each consultation up to 20 minutes.
Conducted by phone or online.
Limited strictly to matters supported under this plan.
Incident-related and general consultation limits are shown in the Plan Schedule.

2. Trucking-Specific Traffic Matters

Provincial Offences Act — Ontario only

A) Commercial Driver License–Related Traffic Offences

Traffic-level matters only — not regulatory or compliance matters.

Driving a commercial vehicle with an improper license class (e.g., operating AZ with DZ or G).
Driving with an expired, suspended, or invalid commercial driver's license.
Failure to properly carry, present, or surrender a license.
Incorrect license classification on a ticket.
Driving subject to administrative license restrictions under POA Ontario.

B) High-Risk Traffic Offences (Truck Context)

Excessive speeding (not classified as stunt driving).
Careless driving (without bodily injury or death).
Following too closely.
Unsafe or improper lane changes.
Failure to obey traffic signs or signals.

These offences may carry increased fines, demerit points, or license consequences compared to standard minor traffic offences.

C) Complex Truck-Related Traffic Matters

Multiple POA charges arising from the same incident.
POA matters that may lead to administrative license suspension.
POA offences involving elevated penalties due to truck classification.
POA matters requiring a trial where no early resolution is available, as reasonably determined by the assigned paralegal.
